Becky, I just learned of your Father's passing. You might not remember me, but I came with my Grandmother, Leota Moon Ewing to visit with Sterling, Kathryn and Frank Moon. We would stay for a week and your Mother and Dad would invite us over to visit. Later, I purchased your Dad"s John Deere equipment for farming. Then in 1971, your Mother and Dad came to my graduation when I became a Commissioned Officer in the Army and he pinned me with his Gold Second Lt bars that he wore early in his military carreer. Your Mom and Dad were great people. Prayers.Jay Ewing

Our sympathy for the family. I met Richard through my wife's (Janet) uncle - Don Hong who lives in Windmill Park, North Fort Myers, and where we have a property near Richard's home. With Don, I visited Richard when in the US during fall 2019 /early 2020 where we spent some social time with him over a drink (bourbon I believe) on a daily basis. I enjoyed these visits and Richard showed me his letter of merit for his outstanding leadership in the Korean War. He was very proud of his service and I as a retired military officer was impressed since it was written by a General for a young Captain - not something you see a lot of. We would reminisce about our shared military service. The last time we saw him was in March 2020 when my wife and I coordinated an inspector to assess his home's roof, but due to COVID we had to return to Canada. Always a pleasure to see him and experience his quick wit. FYI, Don visited Richard every day in am and pm to see how he was doing, ensure his dog got out and spend a lot of social time with him over a drink. Don for a time aided Richard in taking his eyedrops, etc. I know Richard really appreciated this interaction and we have expressed out own appreciation to Don for his generosity and kindness. Bobbie Heath Strobhar left a message on February 3, 2021:
Becky, You won't remember me, but I am Bobbie Heath (Strobhar), daughter of Robert Heath. My dad was Leatha Leppert's youngest son who tragically died from a heart attack when he was 38. When my dad was home from flying airplanes, he would bring us from Dayton up to visit your dad and mom and Aunt Georgie and Uncle Ralph. We loved seeing all the kittens at Aunt Georgie's and getting eggs from the chicken coop and then would go to your house to see all your chickens, which we thought were so cool. My sister, Sherry, and I thought your dad was such a handsome guy and your mom was so pretty. I would run into your dad periodically at the Ohio State Fair, and he even coached me on what chickens I should get when I was thinking about buying some (the neighborhood would not have been happy!)!! As kids, we loved coming to your house as everyone was so welcoming and warm to us "city kids" who knew nothing about farm life, especially when we were little and playing in the field and your dad and Aunt Georgie were screaming at us to get out of there - we didn't see the bull out in the field then who was coming toward us!! We learned quickly where NOT to go and how to stay out of trouble (even though we would have loved to bring home a car full of kittens!). Your family has given us beautiful memories, and I am so sorry for your loss!
