Merilyn Strayer, of Plain City, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Bluebird Assisted Living in Marysville. She was born August 8, 1928, to the late Weldon and Grace Marshal Miller. At the time of her death, she was the longest-living member of the Plain City Presbyterian Church.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother, a dedicated homemaker, and a skilled crafter. Throughout her life, her family and friends were blessed by her homemade cookies, pies, and jams. Her embroidery and home-sewn works are acts of love that are treasured by her family. She also worked as a dental hygienist for over 17 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather William Oyler, husband Keith H. Strayer (2012), brother Thomas Miller, sisters Martha Ruffing and Evoleno Cole,
sisters-in-law Phyllis Miller and Dorothy Miller Maxon, brothers-in-law John Ruffing and Ralph Cole, and her infant son (1962).
She is survived by her loving family, daughters Sheila (Mark) Nestler and Beth (Mark) Randall, and son Brad (Lynn) Strayer, and nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Judd Patterson) Nestler, Michelle Nestler, Matt Randall, Lauren Randall, Alex Randall, Amilyn Strayer, Savannah (Evan) Strayer Webb, Grant Strayer, and Bryce Strayer.
The family would like to make a special thank you to the staff of Bluebird Assisted Living in Marysville and Capital City Hospice, who made Merilyn’s last two weeks on earth so safe, caring, and supported by taking care of her and all her family.
Services will be held graveside Saturday March 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Forest Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Alice Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Plain City Presbyterian Church Window Fund at 231 E. Main St. Plain City, Ohio 43064.
