LARRY JOE COOKE, age 62 of Plain City, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, October 30, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was born January 12, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio and retired as a Scale House Operator for the Ostrander Quarry. Honorably discharged SGT in the US Army (1966-1968) serving in Europe for over a year and a half. Member of the Plain City Presbyterian Church, Plain City VFW Darby Post #3268, Marysville Moose and Eagles, Darby Township Trustee for 13 years, 1965 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School. He was very passionate about playing golf in the central Ohio area whenever he was able to play. Preceded in death by father: Robert Cooke; brother: John R. Cooke; wife: Nancy (Adkins) Cooke – 2002; Survived by second wife: Jenny (Jude) Cooke; son: Shane (Christy) Cooke of Hilliard and grandsons: Ethan and Alex; mother: Medrith (Redman) Cooke Beach of Plain City; brother: Robert “Bob” Cooke of Plain City; sister: Louisebelle “Punk” Taylor of Plain City; sister-in-law: Patricia Cooke of Plain City. The family will receive friends 1 – 3 & 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday, Plain City Presbyterian Church, 231 E. Main Street, Plain City, where the service will be held at 7:00 PM following the visitation. Pastor Don Hilkerbaumer officiating. Burial Forest Grove Cemetery, Plain City, 11:00 AM Wednesday where he was in charge as the Darby Township Trustee.
