My condolences to my dear friends Judy and Connie. I have endless fun loving "adventurous" childhood memories with this generous family. Sleep overs, pizzas, trips to Scioto Downs, summers in Florida, sharing of clothes as teenagers. Your mother made such a positive impact on so many of us who were lucky to have her in our lives. I'm so sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed. Love to all, Genny Akers

Bonnie Mitchell-Cantrell left a message on December 30, 2020:
Schaeffer family,. Words cannot express my sadness upon hearing of the passing of my dear 3rd grade teacher and later in life my friend. When I was in the 3rd grade I lost my grandfather. I remember the kindness and loving words Mrs. Schaeffer showed to me during that time. She took the time during those days to make sure I was doing ok and to help me understand grief at my level. She went far above that of what was expected of a teacher. I never forgot that and used those lessons to help others through the same situations. Later in life when I returned to PCUMC she was always in the same pew and was there for a big greeting smile and hug. Again something I've taken forward. I learned a lot from Mrs. Schaeffer and have been made a better person for having known her. Please accept my deepest condolences and love knowing she is with our Lord on the streets of gold.
Bernadette Thompson left a message on December 30, 2020:
I love Mrs Schaefer. Many times In my life I would just hug her. She always encouraged me, but she took no mess from Mike and I. Absolutely no bickering in her class and I was made to talk for myself. She is a beautiful woman and I am a better person because she loved me and remembered me. I pray for her and her family. She has blessed many lives with her love and teaching. May she rest well in Heaven.
Amanda (Hay) Oberlander left a message on December 30, 2020:
Mrs. Schaeffer was my 3rd grade teacher! I loved her so! She ended up seating me beside another girl, who would become my very dear life-long friend. We may have been a little more than chatty, but she loved us anyway. I remember her giving us those tiny little Avon lipstick samples - but she told us not to wear it at school. She always remembered me whenever I saw her. My deepest sympathies go out to her family, and all those that were blessed to know her.

Mrs. Schaffer was my third grade teacher in Plain CIty. She was an amazing teacher, friend, and inspiration. She is the reason I became a teacher. My fondest memory of her is when she would stand in front of the class (in front of her desk) and pray before we went to lunch every day. She inspired so many during her lifetime and will be missed.

My daughter was one of your students and I know how much of an impact you had on her life ; she often spoke of how much you meant to her. I am quite sure that you had some type of influence on many of these young men and women as they went on with their daily lives. You will be greatly missed. RIP until we meet again
Linette Gingerich left a message on December 29, 2020:
She was my favorite teacher. She told me I had the prettiest handwriting in the third grade. Such a beautiful soul. No matter how much I changed over the years, she always knew who I was when I bumped into her. She always asked about my Mom, and brother and what was happening in my life...she taught him 5 years before me. Last time I saw her she came into the Anderson's...where I worked, she asked of my family...and I told her about my Mom passing and that I was a Grandma of three. She was walking with a cane and told me she had had a stroke. I gave her a hug before she left that day. She was one of the greatest ladies I have ever known. She made a great impact on me. I will never forget her. I am very sorry for your loss.
