James “Jim” Nelson Hornbeck, age 60 of Plain City, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. Born June 5, 1959 in Marion to the late James Darrel & Judy Mae (White) Hornbeck.
Jim was a 1978 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School. He was an owner of his family landscaping business, Landscape Murals of 23 years. Jim loved the outdoors, walking through the woods, trips to visit covered bridges, camping, fishing, muscle cars and riding motorcycles. He simply loved life. Jim was a member of the Meadow Park Church on Bethel Road in Columbus. He also belonged to several car clubs including The Mason Dixon Crew and Shooting the Loop.
In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Beulah Nelson White, who played an everlasting role in his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sally A. (Myers) Hornbeck, whom he married on August 11, 1989; children, Michael J. Hornbeck, Gretchen N. Hornbeck, Doug R. Hornbeck, Nikki A. Hunter, Dustin N. Hornbeck; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Hoffmaster, Sherman H. Hornbeck, Craig A. Hornbeck, Jennifer L. Horton, Kevin J. Hornbeck; cousin, Danny Chard; best friend, Terry “T.D.” Myers along with many extended family and good friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Friday, August 23, 2019 at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. (St. Rt. 161 W) Plain City, where funeral services will be held 10 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2019 with Becky Hare officiating.
