Gomer O. Yates, Jr. age 82, of Plain City went home to be with our Lord, Thursday morning February 4, 2021 at Grant Medical Center. Born August 30, 1938 in Gahanna, Ohio to the late: Gomer O. Sr. & Sarah Hester (Miller) Yates. He was in the first graduating class of Franklin Heights High School in 1959. Member of Christian Life Church, Plain City and active in the
Bread Ministry. Real Estate Broker for two Century 21 franchises and retired as Postal Carrier after 20 years. Member of the Army National Guard for 6 years. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching western movies and playing dominoes at the Senior Citizens Center.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years: Leora Rosemary (Hay) Yates – 2014; brothers and sister-in-law: Gilbert and Betty Yates and Thomas Yates; sister and brother-in-law: Pauline and Marvin Bell; sister-in-law: MaryAnn Hay.
Survived by his children: Terry (Janet) Yates, Mari (Robert) Blankenship, Rina Yates, Rusty (Jaime) Yates; grandchildren: Jacob (Abby) Yates, Joshua (Leanndra) Yates, Amethyst (Aaron) Frost, Bobby (Marissa) Blankenship, Andrea (Hunter) Collier and Deidra Blankenship, Amber Lindie, David (Sabrina) Lindie and Tiffany Lindie, Hannah Yates, Caitlyn Yates and Cody Yates; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Hay, Tillman (Marlene) Hay; many nieces and nephews; close friends: Steve, Art, Mel and Bud.
Celebration of Life Service 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., Plain City, where the family will receive friends 2 hours prior (noon to 2 pm) on Tuesday. Pastor Bud Mulford officiating and burial at Forest Grove Cemetery, Plain City.
