My deepest sympathy to the family. My name was Emily Keels, I graduated from Reynoldsburg in 1958. so knew both Barb and Dick. In 1962 married Howard (Bud) Allison who attended the Methodist Theological School of Ohio with Dick. Our paths crossed yearly at Lakeside. and we visited each others homes and churches. FYI Bud passed away on September 16,2021. I just learned of your loss by checking the internet news of West Ohio Conference.

I have fond memories of Richard and Barbara from years ago singing in the West Ohio United Methodist Minister's Choir... and later in neighboring pastorates between Plain City and Jerome, and Newark and Granville. I've always appreciated their love of music, the fellowship of colleagues and spouses in the choir, their love for their family, and especially their genuine love for Christ and His church. Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of knowing your beloved children - Richard and Barbara.

May God hold your family and friends in his hand to help us all understand. I'm a fomer schoolmate & distantly related - to both Barb and Dick. They were both such good people. Tony & I became acquainted with Pastor Richard and Barbara Smyers when he served as pastor over the Plain City Methodist Church. We were young, ignorant Christians whom they both loved and nurtured. We will always be grateful for the love, acceptance and knowledge of God they poured into us. We pray you all are comforted by the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

God be with your family, what a great loss for us all, just incomprehensible and overwhelming. Dick was one of Sheila’s favorite bosses and we enjoyed our time together when Dick and Barb visited us in Florida. We hoped to pay them a visit since moving back to Ohio last fall but due to Covid restrictions that was not possible. Our profound condolences and prayers for comfort.
