ARTHUR “Art” Edward SCHAEFFER, age 94 of Plain City passed away Tuesday morning November 8, 2016 at the Memorial Gables with his wife by his side. He was born December 12, 1921 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Edward Schaeffer and Edythe (O’Day) Strong. Art was a child of God. A graduate of the Ohio Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphans’ Home of Xenia, Ohio, WWII Army / Air Force Veteran and electrician by trade. He loved football, basketball and was a passionate Ohio State Fan. Art enjoyed gospel music, country music and Polka. He also loved Sunday drives with his best friend, Juanita and going to the horse races.
Preceded in death by parents; sister, Emily Smith; grandparents, Emma & Pearl Vertner; aunts and uncles, Olive (Claude) Truitt, Earl (Lillian) Vertner, Victor (Mary) Vertner.
He was the devoted husband to his surviving wife of 61 years: Juanita (Smith) Schaeffer whom he married March 17, 1955; loving father of 3 daughters: Peggy (Roy) Napier, Connie (Rodger) Troyer, Judy Schaeffer; grandchildren: Brandon (Jodie) Napier, Craig (Sayward) Napier, Dustin (Rejeana) Napier, Alex (Alescia) Troyer, Jonathan (Chasity) Troyer; great-grandchildren: Adrienne, Kameron, Ashtyn, Mackenzie, Sadie, Gracie, Sierra, Marisa, Preston.
Memorial services will begin at 1:30 PM, Friday, Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2016 with Pastor Blaine Keene officiating with full military honors by the Union County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 PM Friday, prior to the service.
