Alvin N. Troyer, 85 of Plain City, journeyed to his heavenly home on Thursday evening, February 4, 2021 after a valiant battle with various illnesses. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was born September 8, 1935 to the late Noah and Tena (Farmwald) Troyer. Alvin married Sara Mae (Yoder) on February 5, 1959. He gave his heart to the Lord. He was a member of United Bethel Mennonite Church which was a tremendous support throughout his life. Alvin excelled as a carpenter, with which he faithfully provided for his family. He used his gifts to serve his church, local school, and community. He was very kind hearted and patient. Alvin always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator. Alvin is survived by his wife of 62 years: Sara Mae; four children: Patricia Ann (Joel) Barkman of Catlett, VA, Katherine Sue (Mike) Gingerich of Abbeville, SC, Moses Randall Troyer of Plain City, Linda Kay (Dan) Kramer of London; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one brother: Andy (Emma) Troyer; three sisters: Ada Yoder, Mary Hershberger and Esther Troyer; sisters-in-law: Fannie Troyer and Elma Troyer. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers: Eli, Jonas and Abe; and two sisters: (infant) Katie and Sarah Troyer. The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Saturday at United Bethel Church, 11342 Lafayette-Plain City Rd, Plain City where the funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday, February 7, 2021. Burial United Bethel Church Cemetery. Social distancing and wearing masks will be practiced at all events.
